The Ethics Advisory Board

Independent. Structurally separate. Non-negotiable.

The Ethics Advisory Board, with African representation, holds final authority over every data access decision Afromics makes, structurally separate from our commercial governance, by design.

01What that means in practice

Commercial pressure cannot override an ethics decision, by design, not by goodwill. We have stated publicly, and mean it operationally:

Afromics will decline capital or partnerships that require compromising this separation. This is a constraint we have built into our governance, not a preference we hope to honour.

02What every participant receives
a)

A personal pharmacogenomic report, delivering immediate clinical value, not a future promise.

b)

An ongoing relationship with the biobank, not a one-time transaction. Participants are informed of how their data contributes to research over time.

c)

A Community Advisory Team representation with real input into how the biobank operates locally.
